Fresh Blood
A new direction for Torryburn saw a re-consolidation of our stock with a reduction of mares at last months Inglis Broodmare Sale and the addition of several new high quality mares with the aim of rejuvenating our breeding program.
Wednesday's results at the Magic Millions included the purchase of Lot 529 Progressive from the Godolphin draft. The Street Cry filly was a winner in town out of Movin' Out, a three quarter sister to Manhattan Rain, Niagra and Echos of Heaven and a half sister to Murjana.
Also secured on the same day was Lot 658 Imperial Lass. The Ciaron Maher trained daughter of Tavistock won $188K in stakes including a G1 placing in the Qld Oaks and is a half sister to multiple stakes winner La Sizeranne and Queen Anne Stakes winner Za Moulin Rouge.
Next on the hit list was the multiple G2 winning, G1 placed Serena Miss, daughter of Iffraaj (GB) and Gifted Lass and closely related to the Cornish family's very much loved multiple stakes winner Presently who at 17 years old still resides at Torryburn and plays an active role as a nanny. This filly is a much welcomed addition to our broodmare band.
We have also been very lucky to arrive the beautiful Ad Valorem (USA) mare Irish Pipedream onto the farm. Irish Pipedream was purchased by a client at last months Inglis mare sale and has come to Torryburn to foal down. The 3yo unraced maiden mare is in foal to Not A Single Doubt and is an exceptional type. Irish Pipedream is a half sister to G2 winner Rain Drum and we are looking forward to seeing her foal in early August.
As a side note, congratulations to Triple Crown Syndications on the sale of Peggy Jean for $1M to Widden Stud on the Gold Coast this week. Peggy Jean was pinhooked by Torryburn Stud as a weanling and went on to win the Group 1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes and the Inglis Classic (L) in 2014.
